SnapDragon

About Snapdragon

Snapdragon is the core duo of saxophonist Travis Sullivan and drummer Bob Meyer, a collaboration dedicated to free improvisation and adventurous performance. Together, they create music that is unpredictable, lyrical, and deeply communicative — always alive in the moment.

In 2018 Snapdragon released their album "The Long and the Short of It: Duo Improvisation" which is currently available worldwide on all major streaming platforms.

Since its founding, the duo has engaged in boundary-crossing projects with a wide range of collaborators. Each performance is unique: it hasn’t been played before, and it won’t be played again!

Current Project: Eishin Nose + Snapdragon

One of Snapdragon’s most exciting recent collaborations is with pianist/composer Eishin Nose (Tokyo/NYC). Together, the trio expands the duo’s sound world with Eishin’s striking compositions and fearless improvisation.

The music blends angular, Monkish melodies, chord-less ballads, modal explorations, and long-form free improvisations that range from Albert Ayler–like rawness to sweeping, majestic arcs. In April 2025, the group recorded a full-length album at Oktaven Studios, capturing both the intimacy and the intensity of this collaboration.

Snapdragon is best presented at:
